The United Nations and Unesco have declared 2015 the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies. In proclaiming an International Year focusing on the topic of light science and its applications, the UN has recognized the importance of raising global awareness about how light-based technologies promote sustainable development and provide solutions to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture and health.
As a result of this celebration, Barcelona Libraries dedicate its talk series Science Perspectives to “light”. The series provides a transdisciplinary vision of a central field of science: technology and everyday life.
In the framework of the International Year of Light Barcelona Libraries have also developed a Reading guide about the topic.
