Launched in 2013 in the United States, Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students. The project proposes that computer science and computer programming should be part of the core curriculum in education. CODE.org offers a free platform (code studio) for learning to program. It can be used by children at home or guided by teachers as part of a class. Although initially the project was directed to teachers of United States of America now has a worldwide presence and its courses are available in over 30 languages and developed in more than 170 countries.
