TransAction – Research Group

18/12/2014

TransAction, research group from University of Oslo, studies the interplay between the different social contexts of children and young people’s learning and identity construction. The aim of this group is to explore how young people construct knowledge across learning contexts in their daily life, online and offline. Attention is given to four specific themes:

  • Multiple contexts for learning and studying how these are interlinked in complex ways.
  • Discourses of learning and new perspectives on what it means to be a learner.
  • Learners use of cultural tools (mental, technological and sign-related) for participating in multiple contexts.
  • Young people’s use of new media for learning and identity work.

Currently, TransAction is developing the  research project “Knowledge in motion across contexts of learning –KnowMo”. The aim of this project is to study the conditions under which learning experiences in out-of-school settings can be made relevant for learning in lower secondary schools.
