Open Badges

Open Badges is a project of the Mozilla Foundation that provides free software to facilitate the recognition of lifelong learning through a system of digital badges. A digital badge is an online registration of certain qualities, skills or achievements that people acquire in various contexts both online and offline. Badges are a visual representation of an achievement, but also include metadata with other information such as who issued the badge or what kind of work has been done to get it.

Open Badges provides a technical infrastructure that enables any organization or community issue badges, while allowing users to obtain and collect badges from different sources and display them on any web platform: CV, social networking profiles, job browsers, etc. Thus, the project aims to help people to demonstrate their skills, interests and achievements in order to provide access to a new career or educational opportunities.
